Ready for Winter!

It’s gotten quite chilly lately, hasn’t it? The season for winter preparations has finally arrived!

Unfortunately, the weekends had been rainy, and we just couldn’t find the right opportunity to cover the stairs… but thankfully, Sunday blessed us with a beautiful autumn day — the perfect weather for winter prep! On the way to the Catskills, the mountains greeted us with a breathtaking display of autumn colors. The vibrant leaves were so stunning that we couldn’t help but stop and take it all in The sight of colorful leaves blanketing the stairs was also charming in its own special way.

With all the rain this season, there were waterlogged branches and heavy limbs scattered here and there. We started by clearing those away first! We then carefully removed the wet leaves that had gotten wedged into the gaps between the wooden steps, making sure the wood could dry out properly.

Next, we wrapped the handrails with large clear plastic wrap to protect them from rain and snow. Then, one by one, we carefully covered each section of the 108 steps — the symbol of Honzo Haven, representing the past, present, and future — and placed plenty of weights to keep the covers secure. And just like that… we were done!

Finally, we planted some bulbs here and there We can’t wait to see them bloom beautifully next year!

We hope the stairs of Honzo Haven make it safely through this winter. We welcome you all back with warmth and joy next spring

ここ最近、急に冷え込んできましたね。ついに冬支度の季節がやってきました！あいにく週末は雨続きで、なかなか階段をカバーできるタイミングが掴めずにいましたが…日曜日はありがたいことに秋晴れ！絶好の冬支度日和となりました。

キャッツキルまでの道中、お山では、色とりどりの紅葉が目に飛び込んできて、思わず立ち止まってしまうほどの美しさでした。

鮮やかな木の葉が階段を覆っている光景も、また風情があって素敵でした。

今季は雨が多かったせいか、水分を含んで重くなった枝や太い枝があちこちに転がっていました。まずはそれらを片付けるところからスタート！階段の木の隙間に入り込んだ濡れた葉っぱも丁寧に取り除き、木がしっかり乾燥できるように整えていきます。

次は、大切な手すりを雨や雪から守るため、大きなクリアラップでしっかり巻きつけていきます。そして、Honzo Havenのシンボルであり、過去・現在・未来を象徴する108段の階段をそれぞれ丁寧にカバーし、外れないよう重石をたっぷり配置して…完成です！
