The other weekend we had two new volunteers, for a total of 10 people.
The newcomers were already good friends with nature and knew it well, so they brought a lot of equipment and machinery without us having to say anything, and they took the initiative in mowing weeds that had been difficult to get going, improving the flow of waterways, and wiring fruit trees to prevent them from being eaten by deer.
In the other project, the pathway to the 108 stairs is getting better and better. It is really hard work, but it is progressing well: gravel is being spread to stabilize the footing, and large stones are being placed on the sides to make the pathway clearly visible.
After the great accomplishment, we all toasted each other with apple cider and praised each other's good work. We also came up with some new ideas that we want to do at Honzo Haven, which brought lots of smiles to our faces.
Working in the wilderness can be physically demanding, but this sense of accomplishment is hard to come by.
