On a warm fall day, before the long, harsh winter arrives in the Catskills, members of volunteer group finished preparing for winter at honzo haven.
We covered the 108 steps that are the symbol of honzo haven. To protect the precious staircases from the harsh Catskills weather, like wind, rain and snow, we swept, oiled, wrapped, and finally covered them and weighted them down with stones. It was hard work, but it didn't take long because we were surrounded by the beauty of the changing colors of the trees and the peace and tranquility of the Catskill countryside.
For the next six months, the 108 steps will endure the harsh winter.
長くて厳しい冬がやって来る前に、Honzo Havenのシンボルである108階段のカバーかけをボランティアグループで行いました。 オイルを塗り、ラップをかけ、そしてカバー後にたくさんの重石を置きます。 重労働でしたが、このキャッツキルのなんとも言えない美しい風景と作業後の温かい焚き火で冷えた体もあっという間に温まりました。今度階段に会えるのは、半年後。。。 ながーいながーい冬がやってきます。
